Raquel Ríos, PhD is the author of the book, Teacher Agency for Equity, Routledge (2017). She has over twenty years’ experience in the field of education starting her career as a middle and high school classroom teacher. She has worked nationally in the US and internationally in Spain, the United Arab Emirates and Puerto Rico as a teacher, instructional designer and professional development specialist. Most recently, Dr. Ríos worked at New Teacher Center, a national resource on mentoring and coaching for teacher effectiveness located in Santa Cruz, California.
Dr. Ríos specializes in designing and imparting meaningful professional learning experiences for educators. Her research and scholarship centers on language, literacy, social justice, change leadership and holistic approaches. She holds a PhD in Educational Leadership from Touro University International, a MS in Elementary Education from Lehman College and a BS in Secondary Foreign Language Education from New York University.
She lives with her husband and two children in New York City.
